Sycamore Basketball opens MVC action schedule at Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Indiana State men's basketball is prepped for its Missouri Valley opener at Missouri State on Saturday, with the game slated to tip at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+ and 105.5 The Legend.

Indiana State is coming off a five-day break after returning from Nassau, Bahamas for the Baha Mar Hoops event over Thanksgiving break. The Sycamores returned home 2-1 with wins in game two (Iona, 83-80) and three (Tarleton State (87-71) after falling in the first contest (Arkansas State, 86-81).
 
Jaden Daughtry and Samage Teel were the two top scorers for Indiana State, each averaging 15.0 points per game. Daughtry finished the three-game trip shooting 20-for-25 (80%), while recording a new career high in scoring with 21 points against Arkansas State. The sophomore shot 10-for-11 in that game. Teel shot 51.5% on the trip and led the team in rebounding with 23 total for 7.7 rebounds per game. Teel finished 11-for-14 from inside the arc in the three games.
 
Missouri State played in Oklahoma at Oral Roberts and won 72-67 on December 1. Dez White finished 18-3-5, Zaxton King scored 12 points on a perfect shooting day from the floor, and Michael Osei-Bonsu nearly recorded a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Missouri State is 2-2 in the last four games.
 
The team heads into the first of two early conference games with a a 5-4 record. The team is shooting 48.3% on the year, which is tied for sixth in the MVC (through December 5 games) - some teams have already played its MVC opener. Indiana State has shot 36.0% from three and 75.2% from the free throw line.
 
The Sycamores led the country in "3PA/FGA" which is the total amount of field goal attempts that are three-pointers. After returning from the Bahamas, Indiana State remains in the top five in the country through games played on December 5.
 
Samage Teel is leading the team in scoring at 16.6 points per game, shooting 53.5% from the field. He is one of two players to start all nine games in the season (Markus Harding). Teel is also leading the team in rebounds, assists, and steals. Playing 30.6 minutes per game, the Greenville, N.C. native is the only Sycamore playing more than 25 minutes per game (30.6).
 
Jaden Daughtry is second on the team in points per game (9.9) and is leading the team in field goal percentage (58.2%). K'mani Doughty is the top three-pointer shooter in terms of percentage, hitting at a 48.0% clip.
 
Doughty and Bruno Alocen each shot 50% from beyond the arc while in the Bahamas. Doughty finished 6-for-12 and Alocen 7-for-14.
 
Josiah LeGree saw an increase in playing time in the Bahamas, playing in all three after only seeing time in three of the team's first six games. He played just under 17 minutes total in those three games, while in the Bahamas he averaged 21.9 minutes per game for a total of 65+ minutes.
 
Following the matchup at Missouri State, Indiana State takes a short break in the playing schedule, returning to the court on Wednesday, December 18 against Murray State inside Hulman Center.
