ST. LOUIS – Indiana State senior outside hitter Emma Kaelin was named a First Team MVC Scholar-Athlete team selection Tuesday afternoon, as announced by the conference office.
 
The honor was Kaelin's second MVC Scholar-Athlete Team selection, as she earned Honorable Mention MVC Scholar-Athlete Team accolades in 2023. Kaelin is the first Sycamore to earn First Team MVC Scholar-Athlete honors since 2019.
 
Kaelin put together career-best numbers in 2024, starting all 30 matches and appearing in 104 out of a possible 107 sets. She finished the season with 276 kills (2.65 per set), 267 digs (2.57 per set), 31 aces (0.30 per set) and 28 blocks (0.27 per set). Kaelin led Indiana State in kills and aces while ranking second on the team in digs this season. For her career, Kaelin finished with 377 kills, 1208 assists, 842 digs and 89 aces, and was the only active Sycamore with 750 digs and 1000 assists.
 
This season, Kaelin had 15 matches with double-digit kills and 11 with double-digit digs. She tallied a career-high 18 kills against Eastern Michigan while recording a season-high 16 digs against Missouri State. Kaelin also had at least one ace in 23 of Indiana State's 30 matches this season, including seven matches with multiple aces.
 
A Clarksville, Indiana, native, Kaelin carries a 4.00 GPA as a Communication Sciences and Disorders major. She was named a recipient of the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award in both 2023 and 2024, and was also a three-time MVC Honor Roll selection (2022-24).
