ST. LOUIS - Indiana State men's basketball senior Samage Teel captured his third MVC Newcomer of the Week award, announced by the league office on Monday.

Teel led the Sycamores to a 2-0 week and helped moved the win streak to five in a row. The senior averaged 19.0 points per game, shooting an incredible 71.4% clip from the floor and 44.4% from deep.

Teel was an offense force in the first win of the week, a home MVC victory over Murray State, where he scored a season high 26 points on a 10-for-13 shooting effort. Teel missed his first shot attempt on the day but made the next nine, starting the game 9-for-10. He finished in every way but a dunk, finishing layups at the rim, stepback midrange jumpers, and four three-pointers. His 20-plus point effort was his third-straight and seventh in 11 total games. Teel made his presence felt in the second game, playing only 22 minutes, much lower compared to his 31+ minutes per game average, still scoring 12 points with a 5-for-8 afternoon.

He is averaging 17.5 points per game on the season shooting 58.2% from the field. Teel is hitting at a 38.6% rate from deep while averaging 4.9 rebounds per game and 4.3 assists her game. He leads the team in both points per game and assists per game.

Indiana State takes on the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus on December 29 with a noon ET tip off on 105.5 The Legend and the Big Ten Network.
