ST. LOUIS - Indiana State men's basketball senior
Samage Teel earned Newcomer of the Week in the Missouri Valley after the opening week of college hoops, announced by the league office on Monday.
Teel averaged 20.5 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game, and 3.5 assists per game in 28.5 minutes played between two games on 59.3% shooting from the floor. In the opener, he led the Sycamores with a game-high 21 points in his Indiana State debut as the guard hit 8-of-14 from the floor and 5-of-10 from the three-point line. He followed that up with a game-high 20-point effort, finishing 8-for-13 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the free throw line, adding five rebounds and five assists in the win.
In game two, Teel scored 13 points on 71.4% shooting in the first half putting the Sycamores ahead by 19 heading into the locker room, not to be overdone by his 14-point first half in the season opener against FAU, where he knocked down four triples in the opening 20 minutes.
Teel and the Sycamores return to action tomorrow, November 12 at home against SIU Edwardsville at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+ and 105.5 The Legend.
