TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State baseball alumni Sean Manaea and Colin Rea both wrapped up their 2024 seasons in the MLB Postseason to highlight the Sycamores in the Pros season update.
Sean Manaea, LHP, New York Mets
Sean Manaea wrapped up the 2024 season as one of the New York Mets' top pitchers with a 12-6 overall record, including a 3.47 ERA over 181.2 innings of work. Manaea's 12 wins led the Mets on the season, while his 3.47 ERA was also among the tops for New York's starters on the year. He also boasted a team-high 184 strikeouts compared to surrendering 63 walks on the season. The Mets earned a Wild Card spot in the postseason with an 89-73 overall record.
Manaea took the hill in the postseason for New York earning a no-decision in his first game against Milwaukee after going 5.0 innings allowing six hits and two runs in Milwaukee's 5-3 win. The former Sycamore followed up by recording the 7-2 win on October 8 to give the Mets a 2-1 series lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in the Divisional round. He went 7.0 innings allowing three hits and one run while striking out six in the victory.
Manaea's win marked the first postseason win by an Indiana State alum since Zane Smith recorded the 1-0 Game Five win over the Atlanta Braves in the National League Championship Series back on October 14, 1991.
Manaea followed up recording the win in New York's 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on October 14 to even the series at 1-1. Manaea went 5.0 innings allowing two hits and two earned runs while striking out seven in the victory. Manaea and the Mets' season came to an end on October 20 as the Dodgers claimed the NLCS series win with a 10-5 victory.
Colin Rea, RHP, Milwaukee Brewers
Colin Rea wrapped up the 2024 season as one of the Milwaukee Brewers' top pitchers with a 12-6 overall record, including a 4.29 ERA over 167.2 innings of work. Rea's 12 wins led the Brewers on the season, while his 4.29 ERA was also among the tops for the Brewers on the year. He added a 135:43 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The Brewers advanced into the MLB Postseason after winning the NL Central Division with a 93-69 record to take the divisional title over the Cardinals and Cubs by 10.0 games.
Rea did not pitch in the postseason as the Brewers fell to the Mets, 2-1, in the Wild Card round.
Clay Dungan, INF, El Paso Chihuahuas (San Diego Padres Triple-A)
Clay Dungan wrapped up the 2024 season at the San Diego Padres' Triple-A franchise as the former Sycamore infield standout wrapped up his fifth professional season. Dungan hit .252 from the plate over 326 at-bats in the Triple-A level posting 82 hits, 24 doubles, eight triples, and seven home runs. He added 61 RBIs and 49 runs scored while posting 16 stolen bases.
Matt Jachec, RHP, Lake County Captains (Cleveland Guardians High-A)
Matt Jachec wrapped up the 2024 season in the Cleveland Guardians' High-A franchise as the right-hander continuing to excel out of the bullpen following midseason promotion. Jachec posted a 1-2 record over 19 appearances at Lake County posting a 4.91 ERA with four holds and a save, while adding a 56:12 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Overall, he posted a 3-4 record on the season with a 4.38 ERA over 36 games and 72.0 innings, while adding a 104:18 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Opponents hit just .239 against the right-hander.
Connor Fenlong, RHP, Quad Cities River Bandits (Kansas City Royals High-A)
Connor Fenlong wrapped up the 2024 season in the Kansas City Royals High-A franchise as the right-hander worked primarily out of the bullpen in his second professional season. Fenlong posted a 1-1 record with a 3.28 ERA over 24.2 innings with four holds and a save with a 15:9 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Fenlong wrapped up the overall season with a 3.38 ERA and a 1-3 record over 32 appearances with four saves and four holds over 48.0 innings.
Luke Hayden, RHP, Daytona Tortugas (Cincinnati Reds Single-A)
Luke Hayden wrapped up his first professional season by being named to the Cincinnati Reds' Top 30 Prospect List as the Sycamore right-hander showcased his ability on the mound over his first season in the minors. Hayden posted a 1-0 record with a 3.60 ERA over four appearances while adding a save over 5.0 innings of work. He also added a 6:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Randal Diaz, INF, Washington Nationals (Unassigned)
Randal Diaz was not assigned to a Washington Nationals affiliate as of the time of this post. The former Sycamore shortstop was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 MLB Draft, the highest selection by an Indiana State player since Jeff Degano (Second Round, 2015).
Grant Magill, C, Chicago White Sox (Unassigned)
Grant Magill has not been assigned to a Chicago White Sox affiliate as of the time of this post. The former Sycamore catcher was signed to a free agent deal by the organization and continues to work out in Arizona.
Tyler Grauer, LHP, Fargo-Moorehead RedHawks (American Association of Professional Baseball)
Tyler Grauer made the AAPB All-Star game midway through the season, but did not pitch late in the year after going on the disabled list. The left-handed pitcher posted an 8-4 record on the mound over 16 starts. He added one shutout over 85.2 innings pitched with a 69:20 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Roby Enriquez, OF, Winnipeg Goldeyes (American Association of Professional Baseball)
Roby Enriquez continued to produce at the professional level as the former Sycamore sat among the Winnipeg team leaders in batting average (.296), hits (80), and doubles (18) over the 2024 season. Enriquez added three home runs, 42 RBIs, and 47 runs scored over the season, while stealing six bases.
Jack Parisi, RHP, Hagerstown Flying Boxcars (Atlantic League of Professional Baseball)
Jack Parisi wrapped up the 2024 season on the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars continuing his third professional season. The former Sycamore right-hander made 23 combined appearances and 10 starts on the mound between both Hagerstown and Lincoln with a 6.71 ERA and 1-5 record over 60.1 innings' pitched. He added a 51:46 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Zach Davidson, LHP, Chicago Dogs (American Association of Professional Baseball)
Zach Davidson made his professional debut this season with the Chicago Dogs finishing with a 3-1 overall record and 4.4 ERA over 30.2 innings on the mound. He made 10 appearances with six starts on the mound while posting a 39:18 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Brian Fuentes, INF, Florence Y'Alls (Frontier League)
Brian Fuentes was among the team's hitting leaders for Florence over the 2024 season as the former infielder paced the organization in both plate appearances and at-bats. Fuentes hit .275 from the plate with 102 hits, including 20 doubles and 12 home runs. He added 73 runs scored and 74 RBIs.
Adam Pottinger, OF, Joliet Slammers, Frontier League
Adam Pottinger lined up in 16 games for the Joliet Slammers after signing a free agent contract with the organization. The former Sycamore outfielder posted a .294 batting average with 10 hits in 34 at-bats, including a pair of doubles and a triple. He added six RBIs and seven runs scored.
Jarrod Watkins, INF, Lake Erie Crushers, Frontier League
Jarrod Watkins is in his second season with the Frontier League's Lake Erie Crushers playing in 91 games while posting a .251 batting average over 350 at-bats. He added 88 hits including 12 doubles and six home runs, while driving in 38 RBIs and scoring 48 runs.
Dane Tofteland, IF/OF, Rocky Mountain Vibes (Pioneer League)
Former Sycamore Dane Tofteland was among the everyday players for the Rocky Mountain Vibes over the 2024 season. He posted a .313 batting average over 316 at-bats while sitting among the leaders with 99 hits, 26 doubles, and 17 home runs. He added 79 runs scored and 77 RBIs over 91 games played.
Will Buraconak, LHP, Northern Colorado Owlz (Pioneer League)
Will Buraconak made 18 starts over his 19 appearances on the mound combined at both Grand Junction and Northern Colorado. Buraconak posted a combined 7.44 ERA with a 3-7 record over 88.1 innings on the mound. He added a 76:56 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Cam Edmonson, LHP, Ogden Raptors (Pioneer League)
Cam Edmonson made 13 appearances out of the bullpen for Ogden posting a 4.85 ERA over 13.0 innings' pitched. He has posted a 18:10 strikeout-to-walk ratio in his first professional season.
