Kent's second half goal leads Sycamores past Racers

MURRAY, Ky.-  Indiana State (8-5-4, 3-3-2)  topped host Murray State (4-7-4, 0-3-3) with a score of 1-0 at Cutchin Field on Thursday afternoon. Mackenzie Kent recorded the go-ahead goal in the 55th minute of the matchup to secure the victory for the Sycamores. 

How it happened: 
In a closely contested match on Thursday afternoon, Indiana State faced a strong offensive effort from Murray State, who outshot them 20-8 and earned 5 corner kicks to Indiana State's 2.

The Sycamores defense held strong, with Maddie Alexander making 7 saves and a shutout. Indiana State picked up their 10th shutout of the 2024 season in the 1-0 victory, which is the most in program history. 

Mackenzie Kent extended her scoring streak, finding the net for the second consecutive game and bringing her season total to six goals. Kent's go-ahead goal came in the 55th minute when she maneuvered through a cluster of Racer defenders and slipped the ball past Revolorio into the top left corner of the net, to break the scoreless game and give the Sycamores the lead. 

Indiana State registered four shots in each half, with Mackenzie Kent standing out as a key player in the victory, contributing 5 shots and scoring 1 goal. Lina Fasquelle also added a shot on target, which was saved by Revolorio, who recorded a total of two saves in the match.

Grace Quinn recorded a shot opportunity in the first half as Wimberley Wright recorded a shot attempt in the second 45 minutes of play for Indiana State on Thursday afternoon. 

Murray State's strong offensive effort was led by Sydney Etter and Mackenzie Tucker, who together accounted for 11 of the team's 20 shots in the matchup.
