TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Jackson Krieg and
Emma Gresham led the way for Indiana State Saturday in the men's 8k and women's 5k races, respectively, helping the Sycamores earn top-10 team finishes in both races at the John McNichols Invitational.
Indiana State finished sixth on the men's side and eighth on the women's side.
Krieg had the top time for the Trees in the 8k, with his mark of 24:48.9 placing 30th overall.
Logan Pietrzak was right behind him in 31st at 24:49.9, while
Jason Dworak (24:54.4) also earned a top-40 finish.
Ethan Breen (25:01.0) and
Cael Light (25:06.9) rounded out the top five for the Sycamores in 42nd and 47th, respectively.
Jocqael Thorpe ran a time of 25:15.0, while
Layton Hall crossed the line in 25:25.2 to close out Indiana State entries towards the team scores.
Ryan York was the first Sycamore freshman to cross the line, finishing in 71st with a time of 25:30.3, while
Tommy Claxton (25:39.0) and
Ian Gadberry (26:29.5) rounded out the top ten finishers for the Trees. Rounding out the Indiana State lineup on the day were
Isaac Bryant (26:35.0),
Cannen Wolf (27:01.8) and
Jackson Ward (27:09.5).
Gresham was the top finisher among any Sycamore in either race, her 5k time of 18:08.6 placing her 22nd overall. She was followed by
Rachel Conhoff (18:24.1) in 33rd, while
Morgan Dyer was the third Sycamore to cross the line, finishing 51st with a time of 18:47.8.
Hadley Gradolf (18:49.8) and
Sara Skaff (18:57.0) rounded out the top five for the Trees, while
Kyra Young (19:08.1) and
Halle Miller (19:09.8) closed out the Sycamores' entries towards team scores.
Allison Steffey made her season debut for the Sycamores with a time of 19:35.9 and was followed behind by freshmen
Brenna Sobecki (19:36.2),
Robyn Schemel (19:37.3) and
Kamilla Gibson (19:53.8) to complete the Sycamore contingent for the morning.
Purdue and Belmont won the men's and women's team titles, respectively, while the Boilermakers' Nate Walker and the Bruins' Kaitlyn Vanderkolk were the men's and women's individual race winners.
