INDIANAPOLIS – Two Indiana State women's basketball signees represented the state in the 2023 Indiana-Kentucky All-Star Series, which included a 71-67 win Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Sycamores were represented on the Indiana All-Star Team by Asia Donald and Saige Stahl, who took part in the two-game series against some of the top high school talent in Kentucky. Donald and Stahl gave Indiana State multiple Indiana All-Stars in the same signing class for the first time since 1983.
Donald had nine points in Saturday's win, all coming in the second quarter. She also added one rebound and one assist in 15 minutes of action, finishing with a 4-for-10 clip from the field. Stahl had two points and eight rebounds in 16 minutes, with her eight rebounds being the most of any reserve player on either side.
Donald and Stahl were two of just four Indiana players to record a positive plus-minus in Friday's series opener in Owensboro, with both incoming Sycamores registering a plus-one in the Hoosier State's 72-62 setback. Stahl had three points and eight rebounds, the most of any Indiana reserve, in 11 minutes of action, while Donald finished with two points and one rebound in 10 minutes.
Stahl also shined in an exhibition game against Indiana's Junior All-Stars Wednesday evening. In just 13 minutes of action, she recorded 11 points and five rebounds, making four of her five attempts from the field and going a perfect 3-for-3 from the line.
Donald and Stahl finished the 2022-23 season as the top two scorers across all IHSAA classes, with both averaging more than 25 points per game. In addition to Donald and Stahl, Indiana State's incoming freshmen include Illinois Class 4A State Champion Jailah Pelly and Virginia Class 4 State Runner-Up Keslyn Secrist, who was a First Team All-State selection this year.
