TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Head coach
Josh Schertz announced Tuesday the signing of transfer Aaron Gray to the Indiana State men's basketball program.
Gray is a 6-7 incoming junior forward from Providence, R.I. and joins the Sycamores after completing his sophomore campaign at Niagara University.
"When we looked at our needs this spring, our top priorities were adding athleticism, shooting, and length on the perimeter," said Coach Schertz. It's rare to find someone who checks every box, but we have found that and more in Aaron. He's a very good athlete, a high-level shooter with range, and has great positional size. He's a guy that only cares about winning and is willing to do all of the little things that drive it."
Gray averaged a team second-best 12.4 points per game at Niagara in 2022-23. He played in all 31 games with 30 starts and posted a career-high 30 points at Fairfield Jan. 6.
Prior to Niagara, Gray played his freshman year at Southern New Hampshire. He played in 21 games with 20 starts and led the team in scoring and rebounding with 15.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He shot 46.2 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from three and was honored by the Northeast-10 Conference with Third Team All-Conference recognition.
Gray graduated from LaSalle Academy in 2019 before spending a prep season at Springfield Commonwealth Academy in Springfield, Massachusetts where he helped SCA to the 2020 National Prep Championships.
