TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's swimming and diving's
Claire Parsons was named this week's Mark Clinkenbeard Construction ISU Student-Athlete of the Week as announced by the athletic department on Monday morning.
Parsons swept the 500- and 1000-yard Freestyle events, and then nearly won the 200-yard Freestyle immediately after swimming the 1000 to highlight her weekend at the ISU quad meet as the Sycamores topped UIC (232-68), Southern Indiana (250-50), and Evansville (241-49).
Parsons opened the day winning the 1000-yard Freestyle in 10:20.58, topping the field by over 12 seconds. It marked the second-fastest time in the Valley this season trailing just her mark against UW-Milwaukee earlier in the season (10:20.41). The Terre Haute native followed up in the next event of the day finishing second in the 200-yard Freestyle finishing .38 seconds behind
Peyton Heagy in the event.
Parsons wrapped up her individual events winning the 500-yard Freestyle in 5:05.23. She wrapped up her day as the opening leg of the second-place 400-yard Freestyle relay team that finished in 3:33.37.
The Mark Clinkenbeard Construction ISU Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every Monday afternoon throughout the 2023-24 athletic season.
