CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – On what was a rainy night which included a stoppage of play for weather, Indiana State women's soccer had their first multi-goal output of the season on Sunday night in a 3-2 loss to Illinois at Demirjian Park in Champaign.
The Illini got on the board first with a Sarah Foley goal in the 25th minute as Illinois would take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the 53rd minute of the match, Kendra Pasquale found the back of the net to increase the Illini lead to 2-0.
Chloe Tesny ended the shutout bid in the 80th minute, scoring on a penalty kick to make it a 2-1 contest with her first goal of the season.
Illinois would add a third goal less than a minute later to go back up by two scores.
With less than five minutes to play,
Katie Yankey scored on a header from an
Ella Gorrie corner kick to make it a 3-2 game.
The Illini would hold on to win, moving to 4-2-0 on the season while Indiana State falls to 0-4-1.
The Sycamores finished the night with six shots while Illinois took 16 attempts.
Indiana State will return to action on Thursday with a road match at UT Martin set to begin at 5 p.m. ET.
