TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's soccer opened their Missouri Valley Conference slate with a 0-0 tie against Belmont on Friday night at Memorial Stadium.
The Sycamores (0-5-2) had a few good looks in the first half including a
CeCe Wahlberg shot off the crossbar but were unable to find the back of the net with seven attempts.
Indiana State held Belmont (2-1-4) to just two shots in each half and did not allow a shot on goal until the 89th minute in which
Maddie Alexander stopped for her lone save of the night.
Offensively, the Sycamores outshot Belmont 10-4 for the entire match with
Audrey Stephens and
Katie Koger leading the way with two apiece.
Sasha Thompson,
Ella Gorrie,
Alexa Mackey and
Nora Henderson all put a shot on goal to round out the offense for Indiana State.
Belmont led the way with seven corner kicks to the Sycamores five and Bruin goalkeeper Sarah Doyle finished with six saves.
The Sycamores will host Evansville next Thursday night with kickoff at Memorial Stadium set for 7 p.m. ET.
