TERRE HAUTE, Ind. –
Randall Diaz homered and drove in four runs, while
Grant Magill doubled twice as Indiana State scored early and often in Tuesday's 12-6 win over visiting Illinois at Bob Warn Field.
The Sycamores (20-9) led by double-digits by the midway point of the game after scoring multiple runs in the first, third, fourth, and fifth frames to build the 12-1 lead. Diaz drove in RBI in each of his first three plate appearances to highlight seven different Indiana State players to drive in runs in the game in the midweek win over the Illini (19-15).
Brennyn Cutts (2-1) was dominant early surrendering just two hits while striking out three in a planned three-inning outing. The Sycamore right-hander has allowed just three hits and one run over his last nine complete innings on the mound while adding 13 strikeouts dating back to last week against Indiana.
Josue Urdaneta added his team-leading 17th multi-hit game of the season with his 3-for-5 day at the plate to lead the Sycamores, while Ross, Diaz,
Aaron Beck, and Magill all posted multi-hit nights. Beck reached base safely in all four of his plate appearances on the evening and added his first two stolen bases of the year.

Jack Parisi, and
Joey Hurth all saw time on the mound on the evening with the ISU pitching staff combining for 13 strikeouts on the evening.
Taylor Jackson, Cam McDonald, and Camden Janik all homered for Illinois to highlight the Illini offense on the day.
Calvin Shephered (0-2) took the loss on the mound after allowing four hits and four runs (three earned), while striking out two over the first three innings. Overall, Illinois' pitchers surrendered nine walks in the contest in the loss.
How They Scored
- Indiana State took the early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Randall Diaz connected on the sacrifice fly scoring Jordan Schaffer, while Josue Urdaneta scored on an Illinois fielding error.
- The Sycamores added to their lead in the third with Diaz connected on a solo home run to left field, while Keegan Watson's RBI groundout brought home Aaron Beck.
- Indiana State's five-run fourth inning was highlighted by back-to-back RBI doubles from Ross and Diaz, while Beck and Watson added run-scoring singles to give the Sycamores the 9-0 lead.
- Cam McDonald put Illinois on the scoreboard with a solo home run to left center in the top of the fifth putting the score at 9-1.
- The Sycamores added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it an 11-1 game as Schaffer and Urdaneta both drove in runs during the frame.
- Daunte Majors drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the eighth inning scoring Parker Stinson to give ISU the 12-1 lead.
- Illinois mounted a late rally taking advantage of five Indiana State walks with Taylor Jackson connecting on a grand slam, while Camden Janik added a solo shot to provide the final scoring line at 12-6
