TOPEKA, Kan. – Indiana State wrapped up the Kansas Classic finishing third overall in the team standings, while Marni Gray completed the Butterfly event sweep to highlight the final day at the Capitol Federal Natatorium.
 
The Sycamores closed out the three-day event with 799 total points in dominating the MVC schools in the competition. ISU finished behind Iowa State (953) and Kansas (907) in the team standings, while topping Northern Iowa (432) and Arkansas Little Rock (264).
 
Gray picked up Indiana State's third event win of the Kansas Classic on Sunday as the senior topped the field in the 200-yard Butterfly on Sunday afternoon with a time of 2:03.14. It was her second event win of the weekend as the Toronto, Canada native picked up the 100-yard Butterfly victory on Saturday night.
 
Andrea Putrimas added ISU's third win over the weekend as the senior topped the field in the 500-yard Freestyle on Friday night. Putrimas and Madie Rutan (100-yard Backstroke) also set new ISU records over the weekend to highlight the weekend.
 
Sunday Afternoon Finals
1650 Freestyle Finals
Esther Rydbeck Norden led five Sycamores that finished in the top-10 in the 1650-yard Freestyle field as the junior touched the wall in 17:08.65. The time was the fifth-fastest in ISU history and put her fourth overall in the field on Sunday afternoon. Andrea Putrimas (17:12.90, 5th), Molly Fogarty (17:17.19, 7th), Haley Halsall (17:26.88, 9th), and Rhiannon Wozny (17:32.37, 10th) were all in the top-10 in the field, while Rose Parsons (18:08.40, 16th) rounded out the group for ISU.
 
200 Backstroke Finals
Madie Rutan finished fourth overall in the 200-yard Backstroke finals on in leading the Sycamores in the field. The junior posted a time of 1:59.62 to highlight her final event, while Olivia DiRuzza added a top-eight finish in 2:05.53. Carmen Alard Vegas (2:02.43, 11th) also finished among the scorers, while Kalli Agapios (2:02.19, 17th), Trista Bullock (2:06.05, 23rd) and Esther Rydbeck Norden (2:12.32, 24th) also finished among the event leaders. Tori Johns (2:07.79, 25th) rounded out the Sycamores in the Sunday finale.
 
100-yard Freestyle Finals
Alexa Szadorski nearly matched the Indiana State record in the 100-yard Freestyle event as the sophomore touched the wall in 50.89 to finish second overall in the field. The sophomore was .04 off Chloe Farro's record mark set last year at the Kansas Classic (50.85) and Szadorski shaved nearly a full half-second off her prelim time in the morning.
 
Farro (51.40, 11th) and Peyton Heagy (51.73, 13th) both finished among the scorers for ISU, while Raine Boles (52.21, 18th) and Carmina Armstrong (52.63, 22nd) also finished among the leaders. Jordan Gruce (53.11, 27th) rounded out the Sycamores in the event finals.
 
200 Breaststroke Finals
Dorotea Bukvic finished took nearly three full seconds off her preliminary time in the 200-yard Breaststroke finals as the sophomore finished second overall in the field in 2:16.80. Kaimi Matsumoto added a fifth-place result in the event final in 2:19.38, while Makayla Sura (2:24.63, 17th) and Kamila Nowak (2:30.52, 21st) both wrapped up the Sycamores in the event.
 
200 Butterfly Finals
Marni Gray completed the Butterfly event sweep at the Kansas Classic as the senior took nearly a full second off her preliminary time on her way to taking the 200-yard Butterfly event win. Gray's time of 2:03.14 topped Iowa State's Winter Craig (2:03.26) in recording the win as Indiana State put four athletes in the top-eight in the field.
 
Katie Dougherty (2:05.69, 5th), Haley Halsall (2:06.71, 7th), and Alexandria Cotter (2:06.96, 8th) all finished among the field leaders on the day as the Sycamores put a strong contingent in the event finals. Colleen O'Connor (2:07.85, 12th), Molly Fogarty (2:13.44, 15th), and Rebecca Shaffer (2:13.62, 16th) all finished among the top-16 in the field to highlight the event.
 
400 Freestyle Relay Finals
Indiana State's top group of Chloe Farro, Kaimi Matsumoto, Peyton Heagy, and Alexa Szadorski posted the third-fastest time in ISU history in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay as the Sycamores touched the wall in 3:25.32 in finishing third overall. The group of Marni Gray, Carmina Armstrong, Raine Boles, and Kalli Agapios (3:31.15) finished ninth overall for a top-10 finish.
 
The Sycamores placed two final quartets in the field with the group of Andrea Putrimas, Jordan Gruce, Carmen Alard Vegas, and Rhiannon Wozny finishing in 3:33.18, while the Trista Bullock, Esther Rydbeck Norden, Dorotea Bukvic, and Alexandria Cotter quartet finished in 3:34.32.

200 Backstroke Prelims
Madie Rutan was the top Sycamore in the 200-yard Backstroke prelims as the junior touched the wall in 1:59.32 to finish second in the field. Olivia DiRuzza (2:01.88, 7th) and Carmen Alard Vegas (2:02.36, 9th) both added top-10 finishes in the prelim rounds to highlight ISU's efforts. Overall, seven Sycamores advanced to Sunday afternoon as Trista Bullock (2:05.94, 21st), Kalli Agapios (2:07.12, 23rd), Esther Rydbeck Norden (2:07.42, 24th), and Tori Johns (2:10.67, 30th) all qualified for the event finals.
 
100 Freestyle Prelims
Alexa Szadorski led six Sycamores that advanced to Sunday afternoon's finals as the sophomore touched the wall in 51.37 to finish tied for sixth in the field. Chloe Farro finished just .01 behind her teammate in ninth, while Peyton Heagy (51.84, 13th) added a top-15 result in the morning session. Also advancing in the field includes Carmina Armstrong (52.66, 21st), Raine Boles (52.69, 22nd), and Jordan Gruce (53.00, 28th).
 
200 Breaststroke Prelims
Dorotea Bukvic continues her strong season in the 200-yard Breaststroke as the sophomore sits third overall in the field following Sunday morning's prelims. Bukvic's time of 2:19.49 led five Sycamores that advanced to the afternoon's finals with Kaimi Matsumoto (2:21.27, 7th) and Elle Gilkerson (2:25.51, 15th) both adding top-15 results. Joining the trio is Makayla Sura (2:28.72, 20th) and Kamila Nowak (2:30.50, 22nd).
 
200 Butterfly Prelims
Marni Gray leads a deep Sycamore squad into Sunday afternoon's 200-yard Butterfly finals as the senior looks to complete the event sweep at the Kansas Classic. Gray touched the wall second in the field in 2:04.01 to lead three Sycamores in the top five as Katie Dougherty (2:05.01, 4th) and Haley Halsall (2:05.89, 5th) are also in the mix. Alexandria Cotter (2:07.76), Molly Fogarty (2:08.43), Colleen O'Connor (2:08.84), and Rebecca Shaffer (2:12.66) also advanced in the top-24 in the field.
