ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State transfer guard Courvoisier McCauley has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by the league.
 
A 6-5 native of Indianapolis, McCauley showed out in his Sycamore debut with a double-double featuring a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds against Green Bay this past Monday. He connected for three triples in the game and became just the fourth out of five ISU players to post a double-double in a Sycamore season-opener dating back to 2003 (joining Trenton Gibson who also had a double-double against Green Bay). All five of those players have been transfers.
 
McCauley averaged 18.5 points on the week to help ISU go 2-0 to start the season for the first time since 2011-12. He also averaged 8.0 boards on the week with a team-high six boards against Ball State Saturday.

McCauley and the Sycamores close out their season-opening homestand Thursday, Nov. 17 when they host North Dakota State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST at the Hulman Center.

For the first time, the Missouri Valley Conference will play a 20-game conference slate following the additions of Murray State, Belmont and Illinois-Chicago to the League beginning July 1, 2022.
