PHILSTEELE.COM – Indiana State freshman linebacker
Geoffrey Brown was named to the Phil Steele Freshman All-American Third Team as announced by the organization on Tuesday morning.
Brown led the Sycamores with 61 total tackles and finished second on the squad with 8.5 tackles for loss in his first season on the field at Indiana State. The Fishers, Ind. native was previously named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer team by the conference's head coaches, SID, and media members.
He finished the season on a high-note with a career-best 12 tackles against Illinois State in the Sycamores win over the Redbirds. Brown finished the season with four games with at least seven tackles, while he posted at least a half-tackle for loss in nine of the 11 games on the year. Brown was tied for 17th overall in the conference with 8.5 tackles for loss at the end of the regular season.
In addition to Brown's honors, the Sycamores had six players named to the Phil Steele All-MVFC All-Conference team.
Inoke Moala earned First Team recognition, while
Jose Vazquez IV and
JJ Henderson both picked up Third Team nods.
Peterson Kerlegrand,
Isaiah Edwards, and
Wyatt Harwood were all on the conference's Fourth Team.
