TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State volleyball is set to open the home portion of their schedule this weekend when they host the Sycamore Invitational in the ISU Arena from Thursday-Saturday.
 
OPENING SERVE
Indiana State volleyball is set to open their home schedule this weekend when they host the Sycamore Invitational. The Sycamores will matchup with IUPUI on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. ET, Western Michigan on Friday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. ET and Austin Peay on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. The opening two matches for ISU will be streamed live on ESPN+ while the match with Austin Peay will stream on ESPN3.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Sycamore volleyball earned their first undefeated weekend of the season at the Music City Invitational. ISU opened the tournament with a convincing 3-0 victory over Alcorn State before defeating host-Belmont, 3-1, on the Bruins home court on Saturday evening. Emma Kaelin and Kaitlyn Hamilton were named to the All-Tournament Teams for their efforts in both matches. 
 
THE SERIES AT A GLACE
IUPUI: Indiana State leads the overall series with the Jaguars, 18-8, winning the last match in 2019, 3-1.
Western Michigan: The Sycamores own a 3-2 series advantage over WMU, but the Broncos won the last meeting, 3-2, in 2016.
Western Michigan: Austin Peay leads, 2-1, last winning 3-1 in 2005.
 
CLIMBING THE LADDER
Melina Tedrow continued to claw her way up the Indiana State record book over the weekend, passing Megan Mirs for the sixth-most digs in Sycamore history with 1,277 thanks to 35 total digs. She is now just 145 digs away from fifth in the record book. Nationally, Tedrow is 96th with 90 digs on the year and 70th in digs per set at 4.74.

With an undefeated weekend at the Music City Invitational, Sycamore volleyball earned their 500th victory in program history. Indiana State clinched victory 500 on Saturday evening, defeating Belmont, 3-1, on the Bruins home court. The Sycamores' first official year of volleyball was 1977.
 
ATOP THE VALLEY
Madeline Williams sits atop the Missouri Valley Conference rankings in multiple categories after a strong weekend of competition at the Music City Invitational. Williams currently is first in the MVC in aces per set at .53 (70th nationally) and total service aced with 10 (68th nationally). Against Belmont, Williams tied a career-best with eight block assists as well.

QUICK STARTS
Indiana State opened each match at College of Charleston with a first set victory in dominant fashion. ISU averaged 14.67 kills in the opening sets of the tournament, hitting no lower than .333 in any opener. Only Kennesaw State managed to hit over .300 in a first set against the Trees with the defense also maintaining control early over Eastern Michigan (.176) and College of Charleston (.000). The Sycamores have yet to lose an opening set through their first five matches.
