Sycamores Open with Old Dominion at Myrtle Beach Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Indiana State will be one of eight programs that will compete in the third annual Myrtle Beach Invitational held November 18, 19 and 21 at the HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C.
 
Tournament organizers announced the bracket for the event on Wednesday and the Sycamores will take on Old Dominion on Nov. 18 to open action. Indiana State's second round matchup will be against either Oklahoma or East Carolina. The full bracket can be seen HERE.
 
Along with the Sycamores and Monarchs, the event will feature Davidson (Atlantic 10), East Carolina (The American), New Mexico State (Western Athletic), Oklahoma (Big 12), Penn (Ivy) and Utah State (Mountain West).

Field Highlights
  • Oklahoma posted a 16-11 record last season and earned a spot in the NCAA Men's Tournament, where the Sooners defeated Missouri and lost to eventual national runner-up Gonzaga.
  • Utah State finished with a 20-9 record last season and lost to Texas Tech in the NCAA first-round.
  • Davidson was 13-9 for the 2020-2021 campaign, and advanced to the NIT.
  • New head coaches: Porter Moser (Oklahoma), Ryan Odum (Utah State) and Josh Schertz (Indiana State).
  • Bob McKillop returns for his 33rd season at Davidson where he has compiled 607 wins and netted 18 post-season appearances.
  • East Carolina's 2020-21 season was highlighted by an upset win over Final Four participant Houston.
  • Only Gonzaga, Virginia, Houston and Belmont have a better winning percentage (95-25, 79.2%) than New Mexico State since the start of the 2017-2018 season (357 Division I schools) with the Aggies' win total tied for 15th on the list.
  • Appearances by East Carolina. Oklahoma and Old Dominion marks the third-straight year schools from The American, Big 12 and Conference USA have competed in the Myrtle Beach Invitational; Atlantic 10 and Missouri Valley will have a school competing for the second time; The Ivy League, Mountain West and the Western Athletic will be represented in the event for the first time.
