School Record 4X100 Relay Highlights Day of Impressive Performances at Pacesetter Sports Invite

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State track and field had one of their strongest days of the season on Friday at the Pacesetter Sports Invitational, headlined by a school record performance from the men's 4X100-meter relay team.

The Indiana State men's 4X100-meter relay squad had a historic day on the track. Managing to dodge the rain, the team composed of Matthew Lewis-Banks, JaVaughn Moore, Jhivon Wison and Noah Malone clocked the fastest time in school history of 39.76, taking down the old record of 40.35 that has stood since the 1997 season. They now lead the Missouri Valley Conference, sit at 16th in the NCAA East Region and 34th in the nation.

Following his performance in the 4X100-meter relay, Lewis-Banks was dominant in the 110-meter hurdles. The junior recorded back-to-back personal-bests in prelims in finals, eventually winning the event with the 10th-best time in ISU history of 13.98. His time is now second in the Valley and 29th in the East Region. By posting as sub-14 second time, all 10 Sycamore hurdlers on the top-10 list now sit at under 14 seconds.

Similar to his hurdling teammate, Moore also earned a victory following the 4X100-meter relay, claiming his in the men's 200-meter dash. The Marietta, Ga., native started the 200 running into a strong headwind, but managed to take the win with a time of 21.21. His teammate, Noah Malone, clocked a time of 21.55 en route to a fourth-place finish. Moore and Malone are currently second and third in the MVC, respectively with season-best times of 21.05 and 21.07. Malone's time of 21.55, pending ratification, is the new Para World Record for the 200-meter dash as well.

In the invitational section of the men's 1500-meter run, Cale Kilian battled to a second-place finish. Racing against tough competition, Kilian rushed passed second-place with 300-meters to go before holding onto silver on the straightaway with a time of 3:51.94.

Prior to the invitational section of the 1500-meters, the Sycamore men in the invitational section of the 800-meter run raced with the Valley's best competition. Leroy Russell placed third to lead the Blue & White with a time of 1:51.41 while Will Smith followed closely in fourth at 1:51.42.

The finals of the men's 100-meter dash featured a duo of Trees made their presence known. Blayne Harrington led the way, placing third with a time of 10.75 while Mike Adams Jr. was close behind in fourth at 10.79.

Freshman Mitchell Cline has his best day in a Sycamore uniform on Friday afternoon, clocking a personal-best time of 48.61 which ties him with teammate Tahj Johnson for fourth in the MVC.
