TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State head basketball coach
Josh Schertz announced the addition of Zach Hobbs (Mesa, Ariz./Des Moines Area CC/Mesa HS) to the Sycamore 2021-22 roster.
"We're very excited to add someone of Zach's caliber to our roster. I have always believed that tough, smart and skilled wins in college basketball and we are fortunate that Zach checks all of those boxes," Schertz said. "Zach is an elite shooter with really good size, and we think that combination gives him a chance to have a special career here at Indiana State."
Hobbs helped Des Moines Area Community College to a NJCAA Division II National Championship in 2021. The 6-foot-5 guard played in 26 games -- starting in 25 -- for the Bears and averaged 12.3 points per game while shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 44.1 percent from behind the arc.
A native of Mesa, Ariz., Hobbs scored in double-digits in 18 games with a season high 26 points coming in the NJCAA Tournament against Mott. To go along with his shooting totals, Hobbs averaged 5.3 rebounds, two assists and 0.8 steals per game. He scored in double figures in all four games of DMACC's championship run and earned All-Tournament Team. Hobbs also spent a season at Montana State as a freshman where he played in 10 games for the Bobcats.
