ALLENDALE, Mich. – It was a strong Saturday of competition for the Indiana State men's and women's track & field teams at Grand Valley State, with the Sycamores getting several impressive performances on the track and in the field.

The Indiana State men's sprinters had a stellar day on the track to lead the Sycamores in Michigan.
JaVaughn Moore came out on top, racing to a season-best and Valley-leading time of 6.76 and was followed by freshman
Noah Malone in third with a season-best time of 6.89. Malone's mark moves him to third in the Missouri Valley Conference.

The duo then followed that performance with a sweep of the 200-meter dash, with Moore claiming his second title of the day with a time of 21.72. Malone followed close behind Moore in second-place, clocking a time of 21.98.

In the first final event on the track,
Matthew Lewis-Banks took silver in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 8.13 while his teammate
Daryl Black also clocked a top-five finish in fourth with a career-best at 8.18. Lewis-Banks' time of 8.05 from the preliminary round is first in the MVC.

Sycamore freshman
Tahj Johnson had his best race in the 400-meter dash in his young career. Johnson ran a personal-best time of 49.18 to cross the line in third, giving him the third-best time in the Valley.

Another pair of top-five finishes for the Sycamores came from the men's and women's milers.
Jocelyn Quiles took the oval first and placed fourth in the women's mile with a time of 4:58.35 which is fourth in the Valley.
Cale Kilian followed with a strong performance of his own, taking third-place in the men's mile with a time of 4:13.51, the third-best time in the MVC.

The high jumpers were dominant in the field for the Sycamore men at Grand Valley State. Freshman
Kevin Krutsch claimed his third win of the year, clearing a bar of 2.09m (6-10.25). His teammate
Nick Schultz took the silver medal with a mark of 2.06m (6-09.00) to complete the ISU sweep at the top.

Frankie Young III had a big day to lead the ISU men in the long jump. Young took silver in the event with a best jump of 7.18m (23-06.75). Also jumping to a second-place finish for the Trees was
Dearis Herron. Herron placed second in the triple jump behind a mark of 14.21m (46-07.25).

The first field event to reach completion for the women came from the women's long jump where the Trees earned a two-three-four finish.
Kaitlyn Davis led the ISU delegation with a jump of 5.53m (18-01.75) in second while
Dominique Wood and
Ryann Porter took third and fourth with marks of 5.36m (17-07.00) and 5.35m (17-06.75), respectively. Â

Kelsey Bowlds also had a strong outing for the Sycamore women in the field. The sophomore took second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.68m (5-06.00). She is currently second in the MVC.

Brittnee James had her best performance in an ISU uniform in the women's weight throw on Saturday. James recorded a career-best toss of 17.96m (58-11.25) to take fourth in the competition which pushes her to third in the Valley.
Lauren England followed James' performance with a strong outing in the shot put, leading the Trees with a toss of 13.89m (45-07.00) and second-place finish.

Also recording a personal-best for the Blue & White was freshman
Selene Weaver. For the third-consecutive meet, Weaver improved her top-vault, this time clearing 3.71m (12-02.00) for ninth in a tough competition. She remains at second in the conference.

Indiana State will be back in action next weekend when they return home to host the Indiana State Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 13.
