KEY TABBED MVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior
Tyreke Key was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week Monday, Feb. 15 after scoring 29 points on 70.7 percent (12-of-17) shooting from the floor and adding five rebounds and two steals in Indiana State's 76-70 victory over Evansville Feb. 14.
LANSING 11th to 100 VALLEY WINS
Indiana State head coach
Greg Lansing became the 11th coach in the 117-year history of the Missouri Valley Conference to reach the 100 win mark in Valley play with the team's 76-70 win over Evansville Sunday, Feb. 14.
SCORING ODDITY
Sunday's 76-70 victory over Evansville saw a scoring oddity as the Sycamores had only two players in double-digit scoring:
Tyreke Key (29) and
Jake LaRavia (20). It was the first time since Feb. 26, 2020 at Southern Illinois that Indiana State had two players reach the 20-point plateau (
Jordan Barnes and Key).
RED-HOT SHOOTING
When the Sycamores shot .596 from the floor against Evansville Sunday, Feb. 14, it was their best shooting game since beating San Jose State 86-57 behind a .642 shooting performance in 2018. The win also came as Evansville shot .543 overall, marking the first time Indiana State won while its opponent shot .500-or-better since Valparaiso shot .500 from the floor and ISU won 87-82 Feb. 13, 2019.
KEY EYES WHO'S NEXT
Senior guard
Tyreke Key jumped three spots on the Indiana State all-time scoring list with his 29 point performance against Evansville Sunday, Feb. 14. The guard now has 1,586 career points, passing No. 8
Jordan Barnes (1,558), No. 7 David Moss (1,562), and No. 6
Jake Odum (1,568), and sitting 87 points behind Butch Wade (1964-67), who scored 1,672 career points. The Celina, Tenn. native needs to average 21.8 points over the final four guaranteed games in order to catch Wade and move into the top five all-time.
NEXT UP
Indiana State has a nine-day break in its schedule, not set to play again until traveling to Valparaiso to finish the season Friday, Feb. 26 and Saturday, Feb. 27.
