THE SERIES
» Saturday's meeting with Miami Ohio will be the eighth all-time between the two programs. Indiana State holds a 4-3 advantage in the series that dates back to the 1936 season. The RedHawks have won the last two meetings. Miami OH won a February meeting in 2007, 70-58 before coming back the next season winning 74-58 in December. Indiana State has hosted the RedHawks just two times prior, winning both meetings (1990, 2000).

A WIN FOR THE SYCAMORES WOULD...
» Give ISU snap a four-game losing skid
» End a two-game losing streak to Miami OH
» Improve ISU's record against the RedHawks to 5-3

UNDER NEW LEADERSHIP
» For the first time in 12 years, the Indiana State basketball is under new leadership as first-year head coach Josh Schertz takes over the reins of the program. Schertz takes over after a 13-year run at NCAA Division II Lincoln Memorial University where he had a career record of 337-69 (.831) en route to four national coach of the year honors. Schertz led the Railsplitters to 10 NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, won 14 total conference championships and three Southeast Regional titles, and had five seasons of 30-or-more victories.

AS HENRY GOES, SO DO THE SYCAMORES
» Cameron Henry has been the wheel that keeps Indiana State basketball moving so far this season. The guard has either made or assisted on 35 percent of all Indiana State field goals through seven games. The senior has 43 field goals and 31 assists while averaging 13.9 points and 3.9 assists per game.

HENRY DOMINANT
» Cameron Henry continues to dominate the court -- scoring in double-figures seven of the first eight games for Indiana State -- including a pair of double-doubles. Over three games at the Myrtle Beach Invitational, Henry put up All-MVC like numbers. The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 17.3 points, nine rebounds and 5.7 assists per game while going for a career-high 25 points against Oklahoma in the semifinals. For his performance, he was named to the All-Tournament Second Team.

BLEDSON AN ALL-AROUND PLAYER
» You have to see it in person to truly appreciate the offensive awareness of Xavier Bledson. The guard is second on the team with 18 assists in just five games, recording multiple assists in all games he has seen action including a season-high seven assists at Ball State. To go with his passing, Bledson is also averaging double-figure scoring at 11.6 points per game, scoring 15 points or more in three games.

NEESE A PROBLEM FOR OPPOSING DEFENSES
» After posting career highs across the board during 2020-21, Cooper Neese has picked up where he left off. The junior is averaging 14.9 points while also hitting the glass for 4.3 rebounds a game. Neese has scored in double-figures in seven games this season with a season scoring 15 or more in six games.

MICAH THOMAS SHOW
» Newcomer Micah Thomas put on an offensive clinic in the finale of the Myrtle Beach Invitational, scoring a career-high 23 points against New Mexico State. Down 20 points with 13 minutes to go, Thomas pulled ISU to within six points with three minutes remaining. Thomas shot 9-for-16 from the field and was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line but more impressive was his 14 second-half points. Thomas has scored 10 or more points in six of the seven games he has played in while averaging 14.7 points a game. One of the best shooters on the team, he leads ISU at a 40 percent (16-40) clip from deep.

MOVING THE ROCK
» Indiana State ranks third in the MVC with 14.1 assists per game while sitting fourth with a 1.15 assist-to-turnover ratio. Six players have recorded over 10 assists with Cameron Henry leading the way by a large margin with 31.

ISU ONE OF THE MOST INEXPERIENCED TEAMS IN NCAA
» Indiana State returns just two players that saw significant minutes a year ago in guards Cooper Neese and Julian Larry. With the addition of eight newcomers to the roster in 2021-22, ISU ranks 343 out of 354 teams in terms of Division I court experience according to Kenpom.com. Three Sycamore freshmen are averaging 10 minutes or more per game, which ties Illinois State and Northern Iowa for the MVC lead.
