Box Score PEORIA, Ill. – The Indiana State volleyball team fell in three sets to the Bradley Braves (15-25, 17-25, 17-25) Friday night in Missouri Valley Conference play inside Renaissance Coliseum.
The Braves, who have now won five-straight matches, outhit the Sycamores .226 to .077, while trailing in the match just four times.
The Sycamores were led at the net by
Mallory Keller. Keller finished the match with 10 kills on 37 swings, four digs and a pair of blocks.
Storm Suhre put down five kills while four other Sycamores tallied a trio of kills. Defensively for the Sycamores,
Melina Tedrow tallied 15 digs and
Ashley Eck dug out 13 Bradley attacks to go with a service ace.
Bradley led from start to finish in the first set of action and forced the Sycamores to call their first timeout at 10-5. The Braves came out of the break and scored two of the next three points and only led by fewer than five points just one time the rest of the way.
In the second set, Indiana State broke a 4-all tie and scored six of the next eight points to take a 10-6 lead. Bradley answered though by reeling off seven-straight points to take a 13-10 lead. Indiana State ran out of gas as Bradley went on the win the set by holding the Sycamores to just four more points in the set.
Bradley came out in the third set energized, scoring the sets first four points. ISU rallied back though by scoring eight of the next 11 points to take its first lead of the set. The teams would go back-and-forth until the Braves were able to extend their lead to four at 16-12 to force an ISU timeout. BU went on to extend it's lead to eight points en route to the set and match win.
The Sycamores are back in action Saturday, Nov. 6 when they travel to Normal to take on the Redbirds. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
