ST. LOUIS – Indiana State middle blocker Madeline Williams has been named Second Team All-Missouri Valley Conference, the Valley announced Thursday. It marks the first postseason honor for Williams in her four-year Sycamore career.
 
The Chesterfield, Mo., native ended the regular season with 219 kills (2.03 k/s) on a .283 hitting percentage which ranked fourth on the team. In a balanced offensive attack, Williams recorded 10 or more kills in 10 matches this season with a season high 12 kills coming at Northern Iowa Oct. 16. Williams has also been dominant at the service line for ISU, finishing the regular season with 33 aces which ranks second on the team and seventh in the MVC.
 
Indiana State benefited from Williams in the middle as she blocked a team-high 92 shots while only being called for three blocking errors. Her block total places her 11th in the MVC.
 
Williams and the Sycamores open the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Championship Thursday evening against No. 3 seed Bradley at 7 p.m. The match can be seen on ESPN Plus.
