TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – All three Indiana State football alums were on the field for NFL Week 8 as Jonas Griffith and Dominique Dafney were back off the injured reserve and active for their respective games this weekend.
Griffith saw 11 snaps on special teams for the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon in Mile High Stadium as the first-year pro returned to the field after a stint on the injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. Griffith did not record a tackle in Denver's 17-10 win over the Washington Football Team as the Broncos improved to 4-4 overall on the year.
Dominique Dafney and Robert Tonyan, Jr. were on the field for the Green Bay Packers on the Thursday night game this past week with Dafney returning to the field after a stint on the I.R. due to a hip injury.
Dafney drew 26 snaps on the field with 14 coming on offense, including a key role late in the game as a lead blocker as the Packers (7-1) ran out the clock in the win against the previously-undefeated Arizona Cardinals.
Tonyan, Jr. drew four targets and hauled in three catches for 49 yards, including a 33-yard snag late in the third quarter. Unfortunately, the fourth-year pro came off the field following the catch due to injury that was later diagnosed as a season-ending ACL tear. Tonyan, Jr. was third on the team with 18 catches for 204 yards and he added two touchdowns on the year.
The Sycamores will be back on the field next week as Griffith and the Broncos will travel to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, November 7, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET on FOX. Dafney and the Packers will also be on the road in Kansas City as they take on the Chiefs at 4:25 p.m. ET with the game also expected to be carried on FOX.
