Sycamore Men Roll Past Hanover in Regular Season Home Opener, 90-49

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State opened its regular-season home slate with a 90-49 victory over Hanover College Sunday afternoon at the Hulman Center. All 12 Sycamores that saw action scored a point as Indiana State improved to 2-1 on the season.

Senior Cooper Neese scored a game-high 20 points while adding eight rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals. Cameron Henry tallied the second double-double of the season for ISU as he scored 18 and grabbed 10 rebounds. Micah Thomas also scored in double-digits in his first career start with 15 points to go with two rebounds and two assists.

Henry, a Chesterfield, Va. native, ignited the Sycamores after a slow start as he drained four three-pointers while shooting 7-for-11 from the field in the 20 minutes of action to help the Sycamores take a 38-26 lead into the locker room.

ISU put on a shooting clinic in the second half of play, going 18-for-30 from the field while connecting on nine of their 15 shots from deep en route to a 52-23 second-half performance.

Out of the break, ISU went on a 20-7 run to extend its lead to 25 points with 12 minutes remaining to play and the rest was history. Neese scored 13 of his 20 points in the second half after hitting five of his seven attempts while Thomas caught fire with 13 points in the final 20 minutes.

ISU continues to lower its turnover number as play continues, finishing with just 10 miscues over 40 minutes coming off a 12-turnover game against Purdue Friday.

The Sycamores won the battle of the boards 47 to 33 while dishing out 19 assists on 34 made baskets. Both Xavier Bledson and Neese led the team with four assists each. ISU scored 34 of its 90 points in the paint while holding Hanover to just 14 paint points.

Matt Munoz led Hanover with 10 points while Ty Houston chipped in nine for the Panthers.

Indiana State will hit the road for the next five games starting with three games at the Myrtle Beach Classic beginning Thursday. The Sycamores will play Old Dominion in the opening round of the tournament on ESPNU before taking on either East Carolina or Oklahoma Friday.
