Sycamores Unable to Match Purdue Size; Fall to No. 7 Boilermakers Friday, 92-67

Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State basketball dropped a road matchup to No. 7 Purdue, 92-67, inside sold out Mackey Arena Friday night.
 
The Sycamores were not able to slow down the two-headed monsters in the paint for Purdue in Zach Edey and Travion Williams as the duo combined for 33 points. Jaden Ivey led Purdue with 27 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field.
 
Indiana State was led by Cooper Neese who put in a team high 15 points while grabbing six rebounds. Cameron Henry battled foul trouble throughout but dropped in 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Dearon Tucker put together a strong second half with eight points and six rebounds.
 
Altogether, ISU was able keep matchup better with the Boilermakers in the second half scoring 37 points to Purdue's 41. Tucker sparked a second half run that saw ISU score 10 consecutive points.
 
The Sycamores opened the game by scoring the first five points as Neese hit a triple at the top and Henry picked up a driving layup. That was when Purdue began the first of several big runs to regain control of the contest. The Boilermakers reeled off a 14-2 run thanks to their inside game. Zach Edey was able to help Purdue with his 7-foot-4 frame, connecting on 5-of-6 shots in the first half to lead the home squad with 15 points.
 
Neese ended a three-minute scoring drought for the Sycamores with a three at the 14-minute mark to cut the Purdue lead to four points. The Boilermakers answered with a 7-0 run before ISU was able to get back on the board, then answered the Sycamore basket with a 16-0 run to extend their lead to 42-26.
 
ISU shot just 39 percent (25-64) from the field while going 23 percent (6-26) from behind the arc. Purdue shot 53 percent from the floor (31-58) while knocking in eight three-pointers.
