TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's basketball fell to Illinois State on Friday evening behind a 37-14 second half effort from the Redbirds.

With their victory, Illinois State improved to 5-2 (2-1) on the year while Indiana State fell to 4-5 (1-3).

After trailing by just seven points at halftime without three of their guards, the Blue & White couldn't recover from a 22-7 third quarter in favor of the Redbirds which saw the opposition shoot 8-of-13 (61.5%) from the field. For the game, Indiana State shot just 13-of-48 (27.1%) from the floor, 1-of-13 (7.7%) from behind the three-point line and 5-of-14 (35.7%) from the charity stripe. Illinois Stated ended at 24-of-56 (42.9%) from the floor and 7-of-20 (35.0%) from deep.

Adrian Folks led the Sycamores offensively, tallying 10 points and seven rebounds while
Hattie Westerfeld had a strong performance with nine points and nine rebounds. Illinois State was led by Mary Crompton with 13 points, including 3-of-5 shooting from long range.

It was a close battle on the boards, but Illinois State held the advantage, 37-35. In addition to Folks and Westerfeld,
Sommer Pitzer added six rebounds to the Trees' total.

The Sycamores are back in action next weekend for a series with the Drake Bulldogs. The first game is slated for Friday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. ET.
