TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State turns the calendar from January to February by welcoming Bradley to the friendly confines of Hulman Center Sunday, Jan. 31 and Monday, Feb. 1. They Sycamores are looking to continue their climb in the Missouri Valley Conference standings, having won four straight and five of its last six.
STREAKING THROUGH THE VALLEY
The four-game winning streak for the Sycamores has come against Illinois State and Southern Illinois, outscoring their foes by 7.3 points per game and allowing just 64.5 points during that stretch. Meanwhile, the Sycamores have shot .474 from the floor and are out-rebounding their opponents by a +5.8 margin.
IF THE STREAK CONTINUES
Should Indiana State continue its winning streak as it takes on Bradley this weekend, it will match the Sycamores' longest stretch of wins in the Valley since 2014-15. ISU also won five consecutive MVC contests in 2013-14, and the longest conference win streak under
Greg Lansing was a six game stretch in 2010-11.
HOW SWEEP IT IS (AGAIN)
The Sycamores swept the season series with Southern Illinois for the second consecutive year, marking the first time since the two became MVC foes that ISU swept the in-season series over SIU in back-to-back campaigns. Indiana State's back-to-back wins over Illinois State on the road was the first back-to-back wins in Normal for the Sycamores since Jan. 12, 2000 and Jan. 6, 2001.
JULIAN JUMPSTARTS THE OFFENSE
Julian Larry scored a career-high 10 points off the bench Tuesday, Jan. 26 against SIU. The freshman went 2-for-3 from three and provided top-notch defense to help kickstart the Sycamores' offense to its largest margin of victory in Valley play.
LANSING CLOSING IN ON 100 VALLEY WINS
Indiana State head coach
Greg Lansing is closing in on 100 wins in Missouri Valley Conference play. He currently ranks 11th all-time in Valley wins with 96.
GREG LANSING SECOND ON ISU WINS LIST WITH 174
Greg Lansing became just the second head coach in the history of the program to record at least 150 victories when he picked that milestone win on Sun., November 24 in the Bahamas against Air Force. His 174 career victories rank second in the history of the program. Coach Lansing now only trails Duane Klueh who owns the school record with 182 career victories.
WELL, THAT'S RARE
All 69 points ISU scored Monday, Jan. 25 came from the starting five. It marked the first time since Jan. 10, 2014 that the Sycamores accomplished such a feat, when ISU topped Southern Illinois 59-56 in Carbondale.
NEXT UP
Indiana State hits the road for the first time in nearly three weeks for its two-game series at Northern Iowa, Feb. 6-7.
