TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – In an effort to overcome the challenging financial impact of COVID-19, Sycamore Athletics has launched the Step Up Initiative to help the department offset extra costs caused by the pandemic.
The department has reduced expenditures and has left several positions vacant throughout the pandemic. Despite these cost-cutting measures, the shortfall will still be significant. To return to competition, the NCAA has provided guidelines and safety standards in order to properly protect our student-athletes, coaches and community at large.
"The Step Up Initiative is vital for our department. The loss of guarantee games, ticket revenue and sponsorship dollars could be felt for years to come," said Director of Athletics
Sherard Clinkscales. "While we have taken measures to remain fiscally responsible, we still need your support for the nearly 400 student-athletes who call Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley home. We remain 100% committed to our student-athletes, providing them with the resources they need for success while continuing their education at Indiana State."
"Even with the impact of COVID-19, the determination of our student-athletes, coaches and staff is undeterred," Clinkscales continued. "They will prepare every day in order to be ready to compete for championships this spring."
