Jake Petricka
Taken in the 34
th round in 2009, Jake Petricka has seen action in over 228 games over his seven-year MLB career. He holds a 10-12 record over his career and a 3.96 ERA. The right-hander has recorded 175 strikeouts and pitched 231 and 2/3 innings. So far in spring training with the Blue Jays -- his first season with the club, Petricka has seen action in three games out of the bullpen and has recorded a pair of saves while allowing four hits over three innings.
Colin Rea
A 12
th round pick by the San Diego Padres in 2011, Colin Rea begins his second season with the Chicago Cubs organization. Rea has appeared in 25 MLB games over his career and holds a 7-7 record with a 4.69 ERA. He's retired 106 batters on strikeouts in 134 and 1/3 innings. In three spring training games with the Cubs, he's gone five innings and allowed three hits and four earned runs for a 7.20 ERA.
Dakota Bacus
Right-hander Dakota Bacus has seen action in three spring training games as a member of the Washington Nationals. He's gone two and 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, an earned run while striking out one batter. Bacus finished the 2019 season with Triple-A Fresno with nine saves and a 3.58 ERA, including a sub-2.00 ERA in late June.
Sean Manaea
One of the most recognizable Sycamores in recent history is Sean Manaea, who was drafted in the 1
st round in 2013 by the Oakland Athletics. He was dominant in 2019 as he worked back from an injury to finish the year 4-0 with a 1.21 ERA over five starts. He struck out 30 batters over 29 and 2/3 innings and started the AL Wildcard game for the A's against Tampa Bay. Manaea no-hit the Boston Red Sox April 21, 2018. It marked the first ho-hitter of the 2018 MLB season and the seventh in Oakland Athletics history. He holds a 35-28 record and a 3.77 ER over his four-year MLB career. The left-hander has seen action in two spring training games in Las Vegas for the A's with four and 2/3 innings and four strikeouts.
Andy Young
A 37
th round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2016, Andy Young is now one of the top prospects in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization after a trade last spring. He wrapped up 2019 with a .280 average and a .373 slugging percentage with Triple-A Reno. So far in spring training, he has a .308 average, a .385 slugging percentage, four hits, a double and three runs scored over nine games.
Hunter Owen
Indiana native Hunter Owen finished up the 2019 season with Double-A Altoona where he hit .295 with a .369 slugging percentage. While with the Curve, Owen went for 15 home runs, 15 doubles and 44 RBI. Owen, a 25
th round pick by the Pirates in 2016, spent 42 games with Triple-A Indianapolis in 2019 as well, hitting .192 with four home runs and 23 base hits. SO far in spring training, Owen has appeared in three games and has scored one run in four total plate appearances.
Tyler Friis
A 2017 draftee by the Cleveland Indians, Tyler Friis wrapped up 2019 at Advanced-A affiliate Lynchburg. The infielder hit .226 in 37 games with 30 base hits, nine doubles and a home run. He also held a .338 on-base percentage after working 23 walks with the Hillcats. In one game with the Indians during spring training, the switch-hitter has two hits with a double and a run scored.
Will Kincanon
Right-hander Will Kincanon has had a solid spring training with the Chicago White Sox. In three appearances he holds a 2-0 record on the mound. An 11
th round pick in 2016, Kincanon has pitched two and 2/3 innings and allowed just one hit while striking out three batters. He wrapped up his 2019 season with Advanced-A affiliate Winston-Salem in the Carolina League, finishing with a 3-3 record and a 1.86 ERA over 58 innings.
Clay Dungan
After his decorated Indiana State career ended in 2019,
Clay Dungan was taken in the 9
th round of the MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals. He spent the final portion of 2019 in rookie ball with the Idaho Chukars where he hit .357 with 91 hits, 19 doubles, five triples, two home runs and 38 RBI. He is now in Royals spring training in Surprise, Ariz.
