Davis, Moore Pace Sycamores on Day Two of Meyo Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – JaVaughn Moore and Imani Davis led the Sycamores on the track on Saturday at day two of the Meyo Invitational.
 
Moore was the lone Sycamore to qualify for finals in any event on the track, qualifying for the 60-meter dash finals after placing fourth in the semi-final round with a time of 6.87. The sophomore then went on to place fifth in finals, clocking a time of 6.83. His time of 6.78 from the ISU Early Bird is still first in the Missouri Valley Conference.
 
Freshman Jhivon Wilson placed 12th in the semi-final round of the 60-meter dash behind a time of 6.97.
 
Pacing the Sycamore women on the track was Imani Davis in the women's 800-meter run. The senior placed second in a strong field of competition, clocking a time of 2:10.10 which is now first in the conference by over four seconds at the time of publishing. Her time was also just .1 off of her personal-best and seventh-best time in ISU history of 2:10.00.
 
Alli Workman put together her best 3000-meter run performance in a Sycamore uniform on Saturday. Workman, matching up with some of the top 3K athletes in the Valley, ran a career-best and ninth-fastest time in Sycamore history of 9:56.08 en route to an 11th-place finish. She now owns the fourth-fastest time in the MVC.
 
Senior Allana Ince secured a top-10 finish on the track in the women's 60-meter hurdles during the semi-final round. The senior crossed the line in 10th while clocking a time of 8.75. Her time of 8.60 from the Coughlan/Malloy Cup is still second in the MVC.
 
In the field, Avery Taylor and Nick Schultz earned the highest finishes for the Sycamores. Both placed eighth in the men's high jump, recording jumps of 1.96m (6-05.00). Nathan Kiger placed right behind them in 11th at 1.96m as well.
 
Freshman Brett Norton was the top finisher in the throwing events for the Trees, placing 11th in the shot put with a toss of 16.16m (53-00.25).
 
Fellow freshman Jamal Safo was also a top finisher for Indiana State in the men's long jump. Safo led the way by placing 12th with a jump of 6.96m (22-10.00)
