SAINT LOIUS, Mo. – The Indiana State Women's Swimming & Diving program has been chosen to finish third at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships next week based on the pre-championship poll, the Valley announced Thursday afternoon.
The Sycamores finished 8-7 overall, the Sycamores were also picked to finish third in the MVC Preseason Poll. The women went 4-2 against conference opponents in the 2019-20 season.
Missouri State was picked to win the Conference Championship with seven first place votes with 63 points, while Southern Illinois was picked second with one first place vote and 51 points. The blue and white, who tallied 48 points were placed in front of Northern Iowa (45), Illinois State (33), Little Rock (20), Evansville (18), Valparaiso (10).
Indiana State Swimmers broke three school records this season. Sarah Moreau in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:55.43, while Andrea Putrimas broke the record in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:15.79. Anna Maria Nasiou broke the record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.20.
The Sycamores have ten top-five individual times on the conference scoreboard this season.
The MVC Championships will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 19 and continue through Saturday, Feb. 23. Missouri State will host the 2020 Swimming and Diving Championships in Columbis, Mo. At the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
