INDIANA STATE NOTES

NOTES
  • A Win Would: A win would give ISU their first two-game winning streak since victories over Southern Illinois and Illinois State from Jan. 6-Jan. 11, 2019. The Sycamores would earn their first-ever victory over Murray State since they first played in 1980.
  • Last Time Out: The Sycamores claimed their first victory of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Detroit Mercy, 84-79. Essy Latu led the Trees with 21 points, including 6-of-12 shooting from deep, to go along with four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Jamyra McChristine pulled down eight of ISU's 38 rebounds to lead the Trees.
  • Dominant on the Glass: Jamyra McChristine has been the class of the Valley on the boards through the Sycamores' first two games. The senior is averaging 10.5 rebounds per game to lead the MVC, a number that also puts her at 63rd nationally. She also leads the conference and is 21st in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game at 5.5. As a team, the Trees are third in the Valley in offensive rebounds per game with 14.0.
  • Elite Shooting: In just the second game of her Sycamore career, Essy Latu put on an offensive show to help lead the Sycamores to victory over Detroit Mercy. Latu connected on 6-of-12 triples, including 7-of-13 from the field overall, to lead ISU with 21 points. Her six threes are the fifth-best mark in the NCAA through opening week and the best outing since Del'Janae Williams connected on five from deep at Illinois Chicago on Nov. 19, 2019. She is currently 27th in the nation in three-pointers attempted (18), 32nd in made triples (7; also leads Valley) and 40th in three-point field goals per game (3.5).
  • Still Young: The Sycamores are just one of three teams in the NCAA to have 100% of their roster composed of athletes with two years or less Division I experience. The other two? SEC school Ole Miss and Indiana State's opponent on Friday, Murray State.
