BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Five Sycamore athletes punched their ticket to finals on Saturday at the IU Relays, while two others recorded top-three finishes to lead Indiana State on day one.

Indiana State's sprinters on the men's side found success in the 60-meter dash on Friday afternoon. All three Trees that were entered in the event qualified for finals on Saturday.
JaVaughn Moore led the way for the men, clocking the second-fastest time of 6.78 while freshman
Jhivon Wilson and
Jarel Shaw also qualified with times of 6.90 and 6.93, respectively. They will compete in the finals at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The men and women will both send one athlete to finals in the 60-meter hurdles. Representing the women will be
Allana Ince who qualified behind a time of 8.78.
Avery Taylor will be the lone male in the hurdle finals for ISU after running the third-fastest prelim time of 8.35. The hurdle finals will begin tomorrow with the women at 10:45 a.m. and will be followed by the men at 10:50 a.m.

After qualifying for finals in the 60-meter dash, Moore's day wasn't over. The sophomore sprinter earned bronze in the 200-meter dash to lead ISU's sprinters, crossing the finish line with a time of 21.84. Both Wilson and Shaw earned top-10 finishes as well in eighth and ninth with times of 22.05 and 22.09, respectively.

The Sycamore jumpers had a strong day, led by a personal-best performance from
Frankie Young III. Young III also earned a third-place finish for the ISU men, jumping to a personal-best mark of 7.08m (23-02.75), trailing only Treyton Harris of Indiana and Allen Gordon of Ole Miss. Young II was followed by freshman
Jamal Safo in fifth with a jump of 7.06m (23-02.00).

In the distance events,
Cale Kilian earned a top-five finish for the men in the 3000-meter run. The sophomore raced across the line in fifth overall behind a time of 8:29.34.
Justin Niederhaus also represented the men in the distance area, placing ninth in the unseeded section of the men's mile at 4:18.57.

A pair of Sycamore men earned top-10 finishes in the field for the blue and white. Freshman thrower
Nick Young had his best performance in the weight throw in his career, placing ninth with a career-best toss of 17.61m (57-09.50). Sophomore
Callan Whitehouse also had his season-best performance in the pole vault, placing 10th in the competition with a vault of 4.82m (15-09.75).

On the women's side,
Kelsey Bowlds once again had a strong day of competition in the high jump. The freshman standout took fifth overall in the event with a jump of 1.62m (5-03.75).
Amiyah James placed 10th for the Trees in the same event, ending with a jump of 1.58m (5-02.25).

The only other top-10 performance for the women came from another freshman,
Faith Frye, in the long jump. Frye held onto the 10th position thanks to her first jump of 5.43m (17-09.75), holding off Angeli Lightfoot of Cincinnati.

Brittnee James had the best day of her young career in the women's weight throw, leading the way for the ISU throwers by placing 20th with a personal-best toss of 16.85m (55-03.20).

Indiana State will be back in action for day two of the IU Relays tomorrow, Feb. 1, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the pentathlon.
