TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Preseason All-Missouri Valley Football Conference quarterback
Ryan Boyle sustained a knee injury in Saturday's win over Eastern Illinois that was later confirmed as an ACL tear, and an injury that will sideline the redshirt senior for the remainder of the 2019 season.
Named a captain by his teammates entering the season, the Urbandale, Iowa native is the second-leading rusher for the Sycamores with 171 yards on 44 carries while throwing for 508 yards and a pair of touchdowns over four games.
He entered the season as the reigning MVFC Newcomer of the Year following a breakout season in 2018 where he amassed 1,627 yards passing and 12 touchdowns on his way to earning Second Team All-MVFC honors. He set a program record with seven touchdowns (five passing and two rushing) during a triple overtime victory of South Dakota before leading the team to five-straight wins to close out the regular season.
