ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State's
Inoke Moala earned the Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week award following his performance against Eastern Kentucky over the weekend, the League office announced Sunday. The honor marks the first for Moala in his career and the second of the season for the Sycamores.
Moala, a Mishawaka, Indiana native, finished with eight tackles against the Colonels, including two sacks for 11 yards and a pair of forced fumbles on the final drive of the game for EKU.
As a defensive, Indiana State held Eastern Kentucky to 0-for-3 on third down and 1-for-3 on fourth down in the fourth quarter. The Colonels converted four of 15 third downs in the game and were forced to punt six times.
The Sycamores will wrap up a three game homestand next weekend when regional rival Eastern Illinois comes to town. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. from Memorial Stadium.
