TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State's
Jonas Griffith has been named a Second Team Preseason All-American as STATS FCS unveiled its Preseason All-American Teams Tuesday.

Griffith earned All-American status from three different publications following the conclusion of the 2018 campaign after leading the Sycamores and ranking fifth nationally in tackles. The honor marks the second preseason All-American nod for Griffith.

Griffith started in all 11 games during his redshirt junior season at linebacker, leading the Missouri Valley Football Conference with 132 tackles, including 81 unassisted stops. He was tops in the nation with 7.4 solo tackles per game and fifth with 12 tackles per game. In total, the Louisville, Kentucky native recorded 9.5 tackles-for-loss for 27 yards including 3.5 sacks. He recorded double-digit stops in eight games while making a season high 18 stops in back-to-back games against South Dakota State and Missouri State.

The Sycamores will open fall camp in early August in front of a 12-game schedule which features seven home games at Memorial Stadium. In two of the first preseason polls, the Sycamores were picked 15th and 18th respectively. ISU returns a plethora of starters on both sides of the ball, including MVFC Newcomer of the Year
Ryan Boyle at quarterback along with four offensive linemen.
