ST. LOUIS -- Five Sycamores on the offensive side of the ball collected preseason All-MVFC honors Tuesday, the League office announced.

Wyatt Wozniak and
Jerry Nunez were named to the MVFC Preseason Team while
Isaiah Edwards earned Honorable Mention accolades. Preseason honors are voted on by league head coaches, media and sports information directors.

Ryan Boyle, Quarterback, Redshirt Senior
2018 Synopsis - Named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer of the Year ... Earned Second team All-MVC honors ... Made his Sycamore debut in week three at Eastern Illinois coming off an injury and started the next nine games at quarterback ... Finished the season with 1,627 yards passing on 128-of-205 attempts through the air for a 62.4 competition percentage to rank tops in the MVFC and 19th nationally … Finished with 12 passing touchdowns and a 145.5 passer efficiency rating … Finished second on the team with 610 yards rushing and six rushing touchdowns … Rushed for a career high 187 yards and two touchdowns against South Dakota … Finished with four total touchdowns against No. 3 South Dakota State (two passing, two rushing) in an overtime loss on the road … Led the Sycamores to a program record 569 yards of total offense at SDSU … Accounted for a school record seven total touchdowns (five passing, two rushing) in a triple overtime win against South Dakota … Led the team to five-straight victories to close out the 2018 season to finish 7-4 overall and a third-place finish in the MVFC after an 0-11 season in 2017.

2018 Synopsis - Named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team ... A breakout season for the Sycamores after returning from injury in 2017 ... Started in all 11 games, recording 47 receptions for 681 yards ... Caught four touchdowns on the season ... Went for 40 receiving yards in seven games and 100 or more yards twice ... Caught two touchdowns and went for a career high 186 yards in a win at Youngstown State (10/27) ... Had a season long reception of 60 yards against YSU ... Caught a season high 11 passes for 111 yards in a triple overtime victory over South Dakota (11/3) ... Caught the game-winning pass in the third overtime to secure a victory against the Coyotes (11/3) ... Returned three punts for 15 yards ... Recorded 696 all-purpose yards with 681 receiving and 15 punt return yards ... Credited with one tackles at YSU.Â

2018 Synopsis - Named Second Team All-MVFC ... Played in all 11 games ... Finished the season 15-of-19 in field goals with a season long of 48 yards coming against Missouri State ... Kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired to secure the fifth-straight win for the Sycamores to close out the season at Western Illinois (11/17) … Was 40-of-41 on PAT attempts … Finished second in the MVFC and 20th nationally with a 78.9 field goal percentage … Averaged 7.7 points per game which is 14th-best in the conference … Averaged 59.8 yards per kickoff and recorded nine touchbacks ... Named MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week three times.

Wyatt Wozniak, Center, Senior
2018 Synopsis - A Second Team All-MVFC selection ... Started every game in 2018 at center … Helped the Sycamores to 241.5 rushing yards per game to rank 14th in the country … ISU finished with 2,656 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns this season after a 2017 season when ISU ran the ball for just 1,185 yards and seven rushing scores … Key in the passing game as the Sycamores threw for 2,559 yards and 18 touchdowns … The Sycamores finished the regular season seventh nationally, converting 42-of-46 (91.3 percent) chances in the red zone … Four different Sycamores (Keys, McCoy, Boyle, Kerlegrand) rushed for 100 or more yards this season.

The Sycamores will open fall camp in early August in front of a 12-game schedule which features seven home games at Memorial Stadium. In two of the first preseason polls, the Sycamores were picked 15th and 18th respectively. ISU returns a plethora of starters on both sides of the ball, including 2018 MVFC Newcomer of the Year
