DES MOINES, Iowa - Erin Reese, fresh off of her NCAA runner-up finish in the hammer throw at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, is set to compete at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.

Unlike the NCAA Championships, the goal this weekend won't be an NCAA title, but rather a trip to the IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar on Sept. 28-Oct. 6. To qualify, athletes must finish within the top-three in their events and have attained the IAAF entry standard – which Reese already owns in the hammer throw at a season-best 71.06m (233-02), with the standard being 71.00m (232-11).

Reese will get started in the hammer throw on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Thanks to a stellar senior campaign for the Trees, Reese is no stranger to high-level competition. During the outdoor season Reese was named the NCAA runner-up in the hammer throw following a huge personal-best throw of 71.06m (233-2), which made her the ninth-best hammer thrower in collegiate history. She also earned Second Team All-American honors in the discus throw at the NCAA Championships. At the NCAA Indoor Championships she earned First Team All-American honors in the weight throw behind a fourth place finish.

During her Sycamore career, Reese was a two-time First Team All-American including her runner-up finish in the hammer, a Second Team All-American, a five-time Missouri Valley Conference Champion and she scored in every event she competed in at all of her MVC Championships.
