TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State's
Max Wright made history Thursday when the junior was named a 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-American. It marks the first Academic All-American honor under head coach
Mitch Hannahs and the fourth in program history. Wright became just the seventh Academic All-District award winner for the Sycamores earlier in May and the first since 2011.

Wright, a third team honoree, started 57 of Indiana State's 61 games in 2019 at catcher, including 30-straight games to close out the season. He finished with a .296 batting average to go along with four home runs and 36 RBI.

A Toronto, Ontario native, Wright ranked among the conference leaders in slugging percentage (.394), hits (60) and hit-by-pitch (13). In the classroom, Wright holds a 3.71 grade point average in criminology and criminal justice.

The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Baseball Teams feature 15 members with a 4.0 GPA or higher and 26 members with at least a 3.90 GPA as either undergraduate or graduate student-athletes. The 12 members on the first team have an average GPA of 3.98.Â
