TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Coming off its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, Indiana State baseball saw three of its players selected in the 2019 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft Tuesday and Wednesday.
 
Shortstop Clay Dungan paved the way with a ninth-round (Pick: 259) selection by the Kansas City Royals. Sycamore left-hander Triston Polley was taken by the Texas Rangers in the 16th round (Pick: 475) while third baseman Jake Means joined Dungan in Kansas City after being selected by the Royals in the 22nd round (Pick: 649). With the trio being selected, ISU has now seen 89 players drafted since 1965.
 
Dungan's selection in the ninth round marks the highest Sycamore draftee since Jeff Degano was selected by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 2015 draft. Dungan finished the season with a .305 average over 61 starts at shortstop. The Yorktown, Indiana native led the team with nine home runs, a .481 slugging percentage and 36 walks. He finished his ISU career playing in 200 games, starting 191 of them. A left-handed bat, Dungan tallied 44 doubles, seven triples, 19 home runs and 129 RBI over his four-year career.
 
Polley was a Missouri Valley Conference honorable mention selection during his senior season. He led all starting pitchers with a 2.84 ERA over 104.2 innings on the mound. The southpaw compiled an 8-1 record and struck out 90 batters while holding opponents to a .227 average against. The Avon, Indiana native finished his four-year Sycamores career with a 16-4 record over 30 starts with a 3.51 ERA. He struck out 167 batters over 210 career innings.
 
Means is coming off a superb senior campaign in which he was named the MVC Defensive Player of the Year. A First Team All-MVC and All-Defensive team member in 2018, Means will join his brother John, who is a starting pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles in MLB. Means finished the 2019 season with a .286 batting average and led ISU with 42 RBIs and 17 hit-by-pitch. He was second on team with a .417 on-base percentage and 33 walks. A Gardner, Kansas product, Means assisted on 127 outs and recorded 49 putouts for a .972 fielding percentage. During his two-year career at ISU, Means went for a .449 slugging percentage, 16 doubles, 15 home runs and 62 RBI in 97 starts.
