PEORIA, Ill. – Due to a 30 percent chance of rain in the forecast (according to most models), Indiana State's opening round game in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament is being moved to the indoor facility at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex.
Â
The change in location was announced by the MVC office Wednesday morning. All of Wednesday's games in the tournament will be moved indoors while a determination on Thursday's games will be made later in the day.
Â
The indoor bubble at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex will have different dimensions than the outdoor fields with the right field line only going 190 feet from home plate while the left field fence goes 210 feet and 220 feet to center.
Â
An approved competition facility by the Missouri Valley Conference office, the bubble has a short roof compared to the UniDome at Northern Iowa, the other indoor facility approved for competition in the conference. Umpires will determine by judgement if any ball that hits the ceiling will be an out, home run or foul ball.
Â
Indiana State is the No. 9 seed in the 2019 MVC Tournament and is facing the eighth-seeded Loyola Chicago Ramblers. First pitch is still set for 5 p.m. ET (4 p.m. CT) and will still be broadcasted live on ESPN+.
