TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State wraps up a 12-game road swing when the Sycamores will play a doubleheader at Evansville Wednesday afternoon.
First pitch for the Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. ET (3 p.m. CT). Both games will be broadcast live on The Valley on ESPN (ESPN+).
Series History
Wednesday's games will be the 96
th and 97
th meetings in the series history between the two teams with Indiana State holding a slim 49-46 advantage in the series. In fact, the series has been so close that each team has only recorded one sweep over the other since 2010. The challenge becomes even greater on the road as ISU trails UE, 13-20, in games played in Evansville.
Three Things to Know
- Sims (Quickly) Chasing History
Leslie Sims enters this week's games needing just one steal to tie (and two to break) the Indiana State career stolen base record, an impressive feat for only a junior. The speedy junior has 67 stolen bases to her credit and is on the verge of breaking the Sycamore record of 68 swipes set by Amy Vaira (1992-95).
- Also Enters the Valley Charts
But more than just ISU history, Sims is moving up the ranks in the Missouri Valley Conference charts. Her 67 steals ranks tied for 10th in the Valley annals as she chases the league record of 98 stolen bases set by Bradley's Kelly Kapp (2014-17).
- Brooke is the (Wo)Mann…
...and we don't suggest you test her. The senior catcher for the Sycamores is tied for first in the Valley among the league catchers for gunning down runners in their tracks with 12 runners stopped in their tracks this season. With numbers like that, we really suggest you don't test that arm.
