OXFORD, Miss. - Many students may find themselves traveling south over spring break, but the Indiana State Track & Field teams have traveled south for a business trip at the Ole Miss Classic in Oxford, Miss. this Saturday.

While not a scored meet, the Ole Miss Classic will once again give the Trees an opportunity to compete against top-notch competition including Arkansas Little-Rock, Arkansas State, Auburn, Illinois, Illinois State, Louisville (#30 women), Rhodes College, Saint Louis, Temple, UT-Martin and West Alabama.

The Sycamores are coming off of a strong weekend at the Black & Gold Invitational that led to several athletes earning a place in the national top-50 in their respective events.

On the men's side, two distance standouts made their way into the national rankings following stellar performances last weekend. The lone event winner in the distance events, Ryan Cash crossed the finish line with a time of 14:46.65 for the victory. His time leads the MVC, is 11th in the East Region and 29th in the NCAA.

No stranger to the national spotlight, Akis Medrano also secured a spot in the NCAA top-50 behind an impressive performance in the men's 1500-meter run. He ended the competition in fifth place at 3:52.04 which is atop the Valley, 22nd in the East and 43rd in the nation.

One freshman making an immediate impact for the Trees is pole vaulter Callan Whitehouse. Whitehouse was the top finisher for ISU a week ago in the pole vault, placing sixth by vaulting to a mark of 4.75m (15-07.00) which leads the conference and is 38th in the NCAA East Region.

An impressive five women find themselves in the NCAA top-50, with the highest ranking coming from Erin Reese. The redshirt senior picked up right where she left off after her NCAA Indoor Championship performance, placing second in the hammer throw with a Valley-leading toss of 62.09m (203-08.75). Her mark is also 11th in the East Region and 18th in the country. Reese also boasts the 24th-best mark in the NCAA East Region in the discus throw at 49.39m (162-00).

Also in the field for the women, Cassaundra Roper had a strong start to her outdoor season as she placed third in the shot put last weekend with a mark of 15.06m (49-05.00), which is best in the conference, 19th in the NCAA East Region and 39th nationally.

On the track, distance star Brooke Moore took fourth in the 1500-meter run in her first race of the outdoor season, crossing the line with a time of 4:27.26 in a race where first and fifth place were separated by just one second. She sits atop the MVC, is 12th in the East and 21st in the NCAA rankings.

Ayanna Morgan also picked up right where she left off during the indoor season at the Black & Gold Invite, as the Barbados native raced to a third place finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles, posting a time of 13.88 to lead the Missouri Valley Conference. Her time is also 24th in the East Region and 47th in the nation.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team composed of Imani Davis, Imani Hall, Jezel Martin and Rebecca Odusola captured a Black & Gold Invitational championship in Nashville as the group clocked a time of 3:46.22 which leads the Valley, sits at 27th in the East and is 50th in the nation.
