Series History
- This will be the 96th meeting between the two schools. The Redbirds are the most played opponent in Indiana State's program history.
- Illinois State holds a 51-44 advantage in the all-time series. The difference is even more stark in Normal where the Redbirds are 28-15 against the Sycamores.
- The two teams have traded wins over the last four overall meetings and the last four meetings at Redbird Arena.
- Indiana State has won five straight meetings, and seven of the last eight, against the Redbirds in Terre Haute. The Sycamores have not lost at home to the Illinois State since 2013.
Five Things to Know
- Looking for Another Split
Indiana State has a history of splitting weekend series in Valley play this year. The Sycamores will need that to hold true when Indiana State tips off at Illinois State Sunday afternoon. The first three weekends in league play saw a split for the Trees while the Blue and White won it's single game weekend with travel partner Evansville.
- Cardiac Trees
Indiana State is keeping fans on the edge of their seats this season for a full 40 minutes each game. The Sycamores have played in 10 games that have been decided by 10 or fewer points, posting a 7-4 record in those games.
- But Recently It's Been Heartbreak Hotel
While the Trees have several close wins, Drake, Loyola and Bradley have handed the Sycamores a trio of heartbreaking losses. Those three games have been decided by a combined five points.
- Hot Tamara
As the weather has gotten cold, Tamara Lee has gotten hot. Since Jan. 6, Lee has found her rhythm on the court by shooting nearly 39 percent from the field and averaging 12.4 ppg, including a team-best 47.6 percent mark from beyond the arc. She has also grabbed 10 steals in that time frame and is averaging a 76.5 percent mark from the free throw line.
- The Road to March … Literally
Indiana State embarks upon a long road in the calendar year's shortest month as the Sycamores only have two home games (over one weekend) in the month of February. Five of ISU's seven games will be away from Hulman Center in a stretch reminiscent of the start of the season when the Trees opened the year with six of their first eight games away from home.
