Series History
- Friday's game marks the 45th meeting between the two programs. Indiana State holds a 37-17 lead in the all-time series.
- Indiana State has won seven of the last 10 meetings in the series. The last loss to the Purple Aces, which came back in 2017, was the last time Evansville won a conference game before the Purple Aces ended a conference-record 27-game league losing streak against Valpo this year.
- Indiana State holds a 20-6 advantage in Terre Haute and have won three of the last five meetings in Hulman Center.
- This has been a low-scoring series, especially as of late. The winning team has scored only scored 70 points or more on two occasions in the last six years, the second being the 76-69 Sycamore win in Evansville earlier this year.
Five Things to Know
- Home, Sweet, Home
After a season dominated by travel, Indiana State is finally heading home. The Sycamores will end the regular season with a three-game homestand, the longest such home streak on the schedule. The Trees have only played nine home games to date, compared to 16 road contests, did not have a home game in November and only two in February.
- 20 Dishes
Indiana State recorded 20 assists in its Feb. 24 game at No. 24/24 Drake, a feat that has been rare among the Trees. The Sycamores have only recorded 20-plus assists in one other game since the start of the 2014-15 season, dishing out 20 assists at Eastern Illinois on Nov. 28, 2016.
- Going to Battle
Ty Battle is seemingly coming into her own late in the season. Since hosting Drake on Jan. 25, Battle is averaging 14.0 points per game, is shooting 50.5 percent from the field and is bringing down an average of 8.1 rebounds per game, leading the team in all three categories. But the sophomore forward isn't just performing well on offense as she leads the team with nine blocks and is one of four players with double digit steals (17) in that time frame.
- O'Neal Charging Ahead
Ashli O'Neal has steadily put together one of the most impressive defensive performances of the season in the Missouri Valley Conference. She enters this week's action with a team-leading 25 charges drawn this season while leading the Valley with 64 steals. Despite her 5-foot-5 stature, O'Neal has also recorded two blocks this year.
- March Off
"March On" may be the official hashtag and battle cry for Sycamore Athletics (and common phrase used in the school's fight song) but for Indiana State Women's Basketball, it's been more like March Off for the past five years. That is because it has been nearly five years and 14 games since ISU has won a game in the month of March – a streak that dates back to March 14, 2014. That was the last time the Blue and White claimed a March win was with a 62-51 victory over Loyola in the MVC Tournament in St. Charles, Missouri.
