Series History
- Friday's game will mark the 75th meeting between the two schools. Indiana State holds a 41-34 all-time record in the series.
- Despite a seven-game advantage in the all-time series, recent results have trended towards the Panthers. ISU has dropped nine straight to UNI and 10 of the last 12 contests.
- UNI has a 19-16 lead in games played in Cedar Falls and has won four straight at the McLeod Center. The Sycamores are looking for their first win in Cedar Falls since March 8, 2014.
Five Things to Know
- The Road to March … Literally
Indiana State embarks upon a long road in the calendar year's shortest month as the Sycamores only have two home games (over one weekend) in the month of February. Five of ISU's seven games will be away from Hulman Center in a stretch reminiscent of the start of the season when the Trees opened the year with six of their first eight games away from home.
- Going to Battle
Ty Battle is seemingly coming into her own late in the season. Since hosting Drake on Jan. 25, Battle is averaging 1.37 points per game, is shooting 48 percent from the field and is bringing down an average of 7.1 rebounds per game, leading the team in all three categories. But the sophomore forward isn't just performing well on offense as she leads the team with five blocks and is one of three players with double digit steals (11) in that time frame.
- Matching Last Year's Win Total
With its 67-59 win over Valparaiso on Feb. 17 marked Indiana State's 11th win of the season - matching last year's win total with five regular season games still to go. One more victory would match the 12 wins recorded by the 2016-17 team.
- More Giving February
Since the start of February, the Sycamores have been more giving towards each other ... and less giving to opponents. Through five games, assists are up and turnovers are down with two of those five games having a positive assist-to-turnover ratio.
- Success in Small Margins
This year Indiana State has started to find more success in the games decided by small margins than they have in recent memory. Entering this game the Sycamores have posted a 7-6 mark in games decided by 10 or fewer points, almost matching the total number of wins in that category from a year ago. The last time ISU had this much success in close games was during the 2014-15 season when the Trees went 8-6 in those games.
