- The Series: Indiana State and Murray State meet for the fourth time in series history on Saturday and the Racers hold a 3-0 lead. The last meeting, which occurred in 1986, was taken by the Racers, 86-80.
- Elite Valley: Conference RPIs were officially released on Tuesday and the Missouri Valley Conference received a historic ranking, coming in as the third-best conference in the nation currently. Only the Pac-12 and Big Ten have a higher RPI than the Valley. Missouri State is ranked 18th in the USA Today Poll and 22nd in the AP Poll and Drake is receiving votes as well.
- Road Tested: Indiana State hits the road once again this weekend when they travel to Murray, Ky. for a matchup with Murray State. This will be Indiana State's eighth time playing on the road this season in nine games. Saturday's game between the Racers and Sycamores is the first meeting since 1986. Â
- Defending the Triple: Indiana State has faced no shortage of strong three-point shooting teams in their first eight games of the season, but has excelled in shutting down the three-point arc. ISU has held opponents to 39/146 from behind the line, just an average of 26.7% per-game which is second in the Valley and 63rd nationally. Murray State enters Saturday's contest shooting 27.4% from behind the line.
- It Starts with Defense: The Sycamores have established themselves as one of the better defensive teams in the Valley early in the season, recording 73 steals through eight games for an average of 9.13 steals-per-game, third-best in the MVC. Freshmen Del'Janae Williams and Sommer Pitzer own the second and fourth most steals-per-game in the league with averages of 2.6 and 1.9, respectively.
- Crashing the Boards: Through their first seven games, ISU can boast themselves as one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Trees have pulled down 110 offensive boards in eight games, giving them an average of 13.8 per-game. LeAndra Echi is currently fourth in the Valley in rebounds-per-game, pulling down an average of 8.5.
- A Balanced Attack: Indiana State continues to bring a balanced offensive attack to the table, with the most recent effort coming against Marshall. Four Trees recorded more than 10 points against the Thundering Herd, led by Jasmine Elder with 14. Marie Hunter (13), Jamyra McChristine (10) and Del'Janae Williams (10) also helped the Sycamore scoring effort. Five of ISU's eight games have seen at least three athletes score 10 points.Â
